“What we witness today are times in which those holding the executive power too often believe others are to obey,” said Danuta Przywara, president of the Helsinki Foundation for Human Rights, at the 34th session of the UN Human Rights Council. Cases of undermining the pillars of democracy like the separation of powers, rule of law and protection of human rights are more visible and more frequent in many countries of the world. According to Przywara, all these elements are currently under threat.
