The leader of the nationalist Dane's Party, Daniel Carlsen, has been charged with violating Denmark’s racism law by handing out cans of "refugee spray." Last month, in a move that was met with strong criticism and disgust by locals, Carlsen went around the streets of Haderslev handing out over 100 spray cans, which were actually hairspray relabelled as an "effective" and "legal" means for Danes to protect themselves from refugees. Carlsen, a former member of a Nazi party, says the charges against him are a response to political pressure. Convictions under the country's racism law are rare.
