Police investigators may press charges against Czech Prime Minister Andrej Babiš and members of his family over suspicions that they illegally tapped into a 50 million crown EU subsidy ten years ago. Babiš has claimed that this is a conspiracy and has appointed a new Minister of Justice, as well as prosecutors and judges who would decide on the prime minister's guilt. This could be the biggest hit on judicial power since November 1989 and is an existential threat to the rule of law in the Czech Republic.
