Polish President Andrzej Duda signed the bill into law late on Friday, October 13.

Poland's president has signed into law a bill on funding for non-governmental organisations that may be used to undercut groups with missions that conflict with the ruling party's positions. International human rights organisations and a coalition of NGOs from within the country had appealed to President Andrzej Duda to veto the bill. The law creates a new body, the National Freedom Institute, that will control the distribution of public funds from the government and the European Union among Poland's 100,000 NGOs.
