In Germany, all safeguards against discrimination are anchored in the Constitution and in the General Equal Treatment Act (Allgemeines Gleichbehandlungsgesetz - "AGG"). To mark the 10th anniversary of the AGG, the Federal Anti-Discrimination Agency has commissioned an evaluation. This evaluation calls for a reform of the law to enable affected persons to take action against discrimination more effectively. Legal deadlines for claims should be expanded and associations should be entitled to initiate legal proceedings to facilitate legal remedies for victims. The evaluation can be found here.
