In the early morning of September 19, police officers from the city of Molenbeek, Brussels, violently evacuated the activists of the organization Voix des Sans-Papiers and the migrant families from the building they had been occupying since July 2014 because they wanted to claim a residence permit in Belgium. The arrest of 12 activists is a direct consequence of the proposal made by the state secretary for asylum and migration to allow police forces to enter the home of undocumented people without a warrant. The League of Human Rights condemns arrests based solely on the migrant status.
