Despite protests, asylum-seeking families in the Almelo family shelter must move, according to State Secretary for Security and Justice Klaas Dijkhoff, because the shelter is to become a regular center. MPs referred to a report sent to Dijkhoff by the workgroup Child in Asylum Center, which shows that removals can cause trauma for the children of asylum seekers. Legal action has been taken against Dijkhoff by 108 inhabitants, including 52 children. A civil court will rule on September 4 whether the location may be transformed. Until then, the removal is on hold.
