The Amsterdam police force is considering lifting the ban on officers wearing headscarves in an effort to recruit more migrant women. The head of the police said the force aims to have half of its officers come from a migrant background (currently, 18 percent of the force does). The current ban on headscarves was implemented in 2011 and prevents officers from wearing any religious symbols that could compromise their neutrality.
