As previously reported, Spanish authorities are prosecuting social network users for the crime of defense of terrorism. One of the most emblematic cases is that of singer César Strawberry, accused of sharing insulting tweets —including death wishes — toward several Spanish public officials. The National High Court, however, has now acquitted him, saying the messages were written in "a critical mood toward the social and political reality" and "peaceful and exclusively cultural," and they are therefore protected under the right of freedom of expression.
