For over two months, the Bulgarian municipality of Elin Pelin (near Sofia) has refused to issue documents to a Syrian family with humanitarian status in Bulgaria. A demonstration by a small crowd against the resettlement of refugees in the town spurred strong media interest. This happened just a few days after the residents of several Bulgarian villages rallied and prevented the accommodation of unaccompanied Afghan children.
