The German Constitutional Court has scheduled a three-day trial for March 2016, when it will hear the case to ban the right-wing extremist National Democratic Party and its associated organizations. Obstacles for opening such a procedure are high since political parties are protected by the German Constitution. According to Article 21.2 of the Constitution, parties are unconstitutional if "they seek to undermine or abolish the free democratic basic order or to endanger the existence of the Federal Republic of Germany."
