Poland's government has responded to the European Commission's initiation of legal action over Warsaw’s judicial reforms by belittling the efforts made by Brussels. On Saturday, July 29, the Commission notified the Polish government that it had begun infringement proceedings for EU law violations. In response, Zbigniew Ziobro, the Polish minister of justice, said the forces behind the Commission's actions wish for "Poland to be a weak country that was open to outside interference" and applauded the character and will of Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban.
