The season of Pride parades opened this weekend in Rome and will continue all summer across Italy. Gabriele Piazzoni, ArciGay’s president, underlines the necessity of such public manifestations, for individuals, but also as a way to standing by the international LGBTQI community, still persecuted in too many countries. There are many areas where equality needs more progress: equal rights on the labor market, healthcare or educational system, recognition of homoparental families, stepchild adoption, self-determination of one’s body and fights to end daily violence targeting LGBTQIs.
