On December 10, the US Senate published its long-awaited report on the CIA's rendition program. Together with the 2009 parliamentary investigation in Lithuania, this report suggests that "detention site Violet" may have been in the country.

"It is apparent from the report that M. al-Hawsawi could have been detained at this site and later transferred away due to major health issues - he wasn't given medical treatment," said HRMI representative Mėta Adutavičiūtė. In September 2013, HRMI and REDRESS requested that a pre-trial investigation be launched into the detention of al-Hawsawi.
