Dainius Pūras, the UN Special Rapporteur on the right to health, recently urged member states to focus on social factors affecting mental health, claiming that the "quality of social relationships … between individuals, families and communities ... across generations, between government and people, between different nations, and between mankind and nature, is a crucial determinant of health, and mental health in particular.” He also advocated for eliminating institutional care for children and fighting against bullying, depression, and suicide through modern public health measures.
