The Equality and Human Rights Commission has requested that political parties in the UK tone down their Brexit rhetoric. The human rights watchdog notes in its letter that racist, antisemitic and homophobic attacks have taken place in the aftermath of the referendum, calling them "stains on our society." The EHRC said it was "concerned that attacks on supporters of both sides of the Brexit debate have polarised many parts of the country," and urged politicians to be mindful of this when choosing their words.
