Amid efforts to bring back closer eastern member states to Western Europe ahead of the autumn EU summit, European Council President Donald Tusk said the obligatory migration quotas "have no future". However, he warned that solidarity is not optional and called on the V4 countries to find joint solutions to migration-related problems, namely securing borders and helping countries that have too many refugees. The 28 heads of state and government will discuss reform of the bloc's asylum laws at a summit in Brussels today.
