On April 28, a unique hearing took place before the court of Utrecht: the case of Privacy First against speed checks. For Privacy First, these checks are a massive breach of privacy because, when it comes to speed checks, the authorities are following everyone, including the majority of the motorists that don't exceed the speed limit. There's no specific legal basis for the checks and although they're not a law, they're a national practice. This is a violation of the Dutch Constitution and the European Convention on Human Rights. The judge is set to rule in this case on May 12.
