Victor Ponta’s government, in power for over three years in Romania, resigned last Wednesday. The prime minister’s resignation comes amid the most widespread protests in the past 25 years in Romania. More than 25,000 people protested in the streets in Bucharest, demanding resignation, after two tragedies that occurred recently in the country: the death of a policeman from a convoy for the minister of interior and the deaths of 45 young people in a fire at a nightclub in the Romanian capital.
