The Netherlands Institute for Human Rights states that the Dutch government must do more to guarantee human rights in the kingdom's overseas territories of Bonaire, Saint Eustatius and Saba. In a recent report, the institute says that there is much to be improved on the islands in the areas of social security, work and income, children's rights, security, and criminal law. To do so, concrete agreements should be concluded by which human rights norms are applied. This would, for instance, entail that the minister for social affairs and employment set a benchmark for the social minimum.
