The Dutch Cabinet has announced the creation of a joint team of the Public Prosecution Department, the police and the Royal Netherlands Marechaussee. It will deal with extensive international investigations into human trafficking in order to intensify its approach and increase its effectiveness. The existing liaison police network of police and marechaussee will also be strengthened, giving the country a better intelligence position about the illegal migration streams to the EU and, especially, the Netherlands. The measures are an addition to the announced increased criminal penalties.
