The United Nations is accusing Czech authorities of "systematic human rights violations" in its treatment of refugees and migrants. The UN human rights chief, Zeid Ra'ad Al Hussein, said the Czech Republic was holding migrants in "degrading" conditions for up to 90 days, and many had been strip-searched to find money to pay for their detention. He also criticized "Islamophobic" statements by Czech President Milos Zeman.
