An activist of the organization No Somos Delito ("We Are Not a Crime") was fined after participating in December 2014 in one of the largest demonstrations against Spain's controversial "gag law." The activist is accused of promoting a demonstration that hadn't been previously disclosed to the local authorities. He appealed the fine and the court hearing took place on October 18. The fine has been heavily criticized, since it is an interpretation of the law that makes any demonstration that takes place without prior authorization illegal, conflicting the ECHR case law.
