The Constitutional Court of Lithuania ruled that the legal regulation of social housing, with people losing the right to social housing if their assets or income exceeded the bar set by the government by even the tiniest of margins, was contrary to the Fundamental Law of the country. The court stressed that, according to the Constitution, the state has a duty to create a system of social welfare that helps ensure living conditions in accordance with human dignity and considers the needs of the most socially sensitive groups in society.
