On October 23rd the Italian Senate, will discuss a draft law, proposed by the far-right League party, which would expand the regime of legitimate defence to allow private individuals to defend themselves from intruders in their homes, possibly with firearms. Italian judicial rights organisation Antigone has launched a petition to urge Italian MPs to oppose this new legislation and is currently collecting signatures. In the coming days, Antigone will also put in place various initiatives aimed at opposing this law, which it claims could make Italy into a wild west.
