The Sea-Watch 3, which rescued 47 people from drowning in the Mediterranean ten days ago, is still looking for safe harbour. On Friday night it entered the port of Syracuse and is now anchored there. The mayor of Syracuse stated that “the city is ready to welcome the 47 people on board” but the Italian government has said that the rescue vessel will not be allowed to disembark its passengers. In response, thousands took to the streets to protest and advocate a welcoming country. Meanwhile, Sea-Watch has launched a petition to find a solution to this situation. You can sign here.
