On the 25th anniversary of the fall of the Berlin Wall, German activists wanted to symbolically cut the wire fence along the Bulgarian-Turkish border - a sign that refugees are welcome. More than 100 German activists negotiated with the director of the border police, Zaharin Penov, to be allowed to put on a performance in close proximity to the fence, but without any success. In the end, the activists symbolically raised scissors in front of the border police officers.
