Sales of George Orwell’s dystopian book "1984" have soared after an adviser to President Donald Trump said his administration presents 'alternative facts.' the phrase "alternative facts" in an interview. The book, written in 1949, uses the term "newspeak" to signal a fictional language aimed at eliminating personal thought and "doublethink," which Orwell wrote "means the power of holding two contradictory beliefs in one’s mind simultaneously, and accepting both of them."
