Following recommendations from the European Commission on financing, human rights and basic living conditions standards, the organization Associazione 21 Luglio urges Rome to review its policy on Roma camps. Newly built camps are insufficient and will leave 6,000 people on the streets. Because of this, the association asks for the suspension of the destruction of existing Roma camps, a better repartition across the Lazio region (and not a concentration in Rome) as well as the approval of a civil initiative for a housing solution that is better than the camps.
