A new EU report is a sobering reminder of the degree to which racism and discrimination still exist in European societies. A third of people of African descent in 12 EU states have experienced some form of racist harassment in the past five years. The report, 'Being Black in the EU', is based on interviews with 6,000 people of African descent. "Black people in the EU today are still victims of widespread and unacceptable levels of discrimination and harassment simply because of their skin color," Michael O'Flaherty, director of the European Union Agency for Fundamental Rights, said.
