Rotterdam staff of the Dutch Council for Refugees, mostly volunteers, have access to very sensitive personal data of hundreds of refugees, whom they do not personally mentor. This includes not only information like names and addresses, but also citizen service numbers, phone numbers and bank details. In some cases, staff had access to transcribed asylum interrogations by the Immigration and Naturalization Service and even medical records. Staff can access the information both at home and after office hours. According to the Council for Refugees, their system meets all the privacy requirements.
