President Andrzej Duda says Poland has the right "to defend historical truth" and he is ready to sign the controversial Holocaust bill despite diplomatic rows with Israel and the US. Duda defended the legislation, which will make it illegal to accuse Poland of complicity in Nazi crimes. The Israeli government has voiced concerns that it could silence the truth about the involvement of some Poles. As a gesture to Israel, Duda said he will send it to the Constitutional Tribunal to check whether it complies with the Constitution, but only after he signs the law.
