Hanna Machińska has headed the office since its creation in 1991.

The Polish Ministry of Foreign Affairs has decided to dismiss Dr. Hanna Machińska from the position of the Head of the Council of Europe Office in Warsaw, which she has headed since its creation in 1991 after Poland's accession to the Council of Europe. Machińska's successor is Paweł Wierdak, former deputy director of the Department of United Nations and Human Rights in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
