Poland's government has reversed a law that forces Supreme Court justices into early retirement. The decision comes after a ruling by the European Court of Justice that ordered Warsaw to suspend application of the law. The government said this week that it would now reinstate the judges because it respects the rulings of the EU's top court.

Liberties earlier produced a video on the threats posed by the government's takeover of the judiciary and reported that the retirement-age law was a key reason why the European Commission began the Article 7 procedure against Poland.
