The Constitutional Court opened the way for child adoption by registered partners. The court struck down the part of the current law that prevents individual adoption. According to the court, the ban on adoptions contradicted the right to human dignity, making registered partners "second-class citizens" without any clear reason. The ruling enters into force on the day of its publication in the legal code. The ruling is still not directly related to joint adoption, which the civil code applies only to married heterosexual couples. It regards just one individual adoption by one adoptive parent.
