During several rallies and a march against hatred organized on January 11, Belgium paid tribute to the victims of religious extremism, including journalists from the satirical weekly Charlie Hebdo. More than 20,000 people gathered in Brussels and Mons to show their rejection of intolerance and to express their commitment to freedom of expression.
