Public-authority primary schools in the Dutch city of Utrecht will be celebrating St. Nicholas Day without Black Pete from now on. There will be no more room for Black Pete or other hurtful, negative stereotyping in their celebrations. It's the only way they can be fair to the core principles of neutral education and have the schools take seriously their responsibilities in educating the young. The board of governors of the Foundation of Primary Education has decided on this with the school directors. A core principle of public-authority primary education in Utrecht is that everyone is equal.
