The Dutch cabinet is not going to ban Salafist organizations, nor will there be new legislation to tackle intolerance and the preaching of hate within Salafist movements. The present legal instruments are sufficient. Ministers Art van der Steur (Security and Justice) and Lodewijk Asscher (Social Affairs) wrote this in a letter to Parliament. The ministers do not want to ban a religion, ideology or body of thought, because "individual freedom is the foundation of our rule of law." A ban would go against this principle.
