A court in Warsaw has issued an unprecedented verdict against the tabloid Super Express, ordering it to publish an apology on its first page for 30 consecutive days after the court decided the paper violated the personal rights of two well-known women. Additionally, the paper has to pay 150,000 Polish zloty (about 37,500 euros) in compensation. It is estimated that the total cost to the paper of running the apology on the front page for 30 days will be around one million euros. The verdict is alarming as it breaches the principle of proportionality and fair financial sanctions.
