Bulgarian President Rosen Plevneliev signed the use of force bill into law.

Despite calls by the Bulgarian Helsinki Committee (BHC) and other human rights organizations for a veto, Bulgarian President Rosen Plevneliev signed into law the new Law on the National Service for Protection. According to the legal director of BHC, Margarita Ilieva, the controversial law "governs the absolute necessity of using force and weapons, but in an insufficient and contradictory way." This can lead to violations of the European Convention on Human Rights and judgments against Bulgaria in Strasbourg.
