Excluded from all assistance networks, at least 10,000 people in Italy (men, women and children who are either asylum seekers or beneficiaries of international protection) live in extremely harsh conditions in abandoned buildings, without any food, water, heating, or medical assistance. "Fuori Campo", the latest report by Médecins Sans Frontières Italy, maps all Italian sites (around 50) where these people live, including 3,500 who live in ghettos in Rome. Open Migration recently visited with those living in the "grand ghetto" of the capital city, where conditions are particularly terrible.
