Czechia and Slovakia are among the EU countries with a high degree of modern slavery, states the London-based Walk Free Foundation in a new report. According to the report's authors, people fall into modern slavery because of debt, human trafficking, forced marriage or sexual exploitation, among other reasons. In terms of numbers, India is home to the most modern slaves (18.35 million people), but North Korea has the most by proportion of population. In Europe, the worst is Macedonia, followed by Turkey, Poland, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Romania, Greece and Czechia.
