Members states in the Council agreed on their joint position on the two programs that constitute the EU Justice, rights and values fund as part of the EU's budget for 2021-2027. Minsters approved the fund without amending the earmarks in the Commission's proposal. It has a proposed a budget of 947 million euros over the seven years (642 million euros for the Rights and Values program and 305 million euros for the Justice program). The figures for the next MFF period are the same as the current one. Liberties earlier argued for the increase of funds in defence of EU values and democracy.
