A group of migrants detained in the migrant detention center (CIE) of Madrid staged a protest the night of October 18 that lasted a total of 11 hours. They climbed to the roof shouting "Freedom!" and stayed there all night. These centers deprive irregular migrants of their liberty in order to ensure their expulsion, that is, to comply with an administrative - not criminal - penalty. Their very existence is considered a violation of human rights and they have been denounced for multiple abuses, mistreatment and poor conditions.
