Data from the central payroll for civil and public servants in Croatia reveal that female employees, although more numerous, receive on average 25 percent lower wages across the state and 20.8 percent lower salaries in the public sector than their male counterparts with the same qualifications. The biggest difference is in public administration, in positions for which high school education is required: in this area, data from March of this year show that women were paid 46 percent less than their male counterparts.
