Following the appeal by the European Network Against Racism (ENAR) to the Minister of the Interior, on October 6 the Lithuanian Police Department changed the discriminatory provisions contained in its long-term preventive action program for combating terrorism. ENAR raised the issue of mass identity checks carried out by the police within the Lithuanian Muslim community, as well as the fact that the preventive action program singled out "radical Islam" out of all the other religions. Following these changes, the program will aim to combat "violent extremism."
