The president of Lithuania has now signed the new Law on Lobbying. During the reading of the bill, the definition of lobbying and its subjects invited much debate. The first draft sought to define NGO activities in pursuit of the public interest as lobbying. This idea was opposed by nearly the whole of civil society. The new law will not apply to the opinions on legislation expressed by NGOs and natural persons.
