Sixteen students from the Higher Education Institution of the Province of Liège who were banned from wearing any type of clothing that express a "philosophical, religious or political belonging" appealed this decision before a court in Brussels. The court has now overturned the decision because it violates freedom of religion and said that a general ban constituted a disproportionate measure to achieve the aim pursued.
