Spanish Association of Attorneys to Host Seminar on New EU Directives on Right to Defense

New EU directives are set to shape best practices at police stations and courts in defense of citizens. They deal directly with fair treatment and the existence of a transparent and reliable justice system for the protection of everybody's rights.

by Rights International Spain

The Free Association of Attorneys has organized a seminar in order to review the new European Union directives on procedural rights and guarantees, to be held in the conference hall at the offices of the European Commission’s Spanish representation. Four round tables will examine the 2010/64 Directive regarding translation and interpretation, the 2012/13 Directive dealing with the access to information and Directive 2013/48 surrounding legal assistance to suspects and accused. Rights International Spain will participate in the discussion entitled "Procedural Strategies In View of Breaches or Violations of Rights Enshrined in Said Directives." Fair Trials International partners will participate in the last session on the future of the right to defense in Spain in light of the new European Union directives.
