A law allowing the government entrust a central repository with retaining visual and audio records made by various bodies would let the Hungarian state create anyone's complete profile. HCLU says that, thanks to its access to a database containing records of cameras (e.g. on public transport vehicles and in banks), the state would practically know everything about citizens' habits. The secret collection of information is a particularly severe restriction of information privacy, reminds the NGO, as victims are usually unaware of it and therefore have limited ability to enforce their rights.
